The five day SAFETY WEEK with the theme SAFETY; A COMMITMENT FOR LIFE, was celebrated from 15th to 19th November 2010. The purpose for this celebration was to raise awareness among staff and the general public about the need to be committed to safe practices both at work and at home. It was also to demonstrate leadership commitment to HSSE and through that, drive the company up on the HSSE cultural ladder.
The programme for the celebration covered all Cirrus operations and the community in which we operate. Safety sampling were carried out in all operational areas; all staff were involved in various toolbox talks; market women were sensitized on causes of fire and trained on how to put out fire by the National fire service personnel and the Cirrus Safety team. The markets were targeted due to the recent wave of market fires in the country. This years celebration was carried out with the national fire service; who were also celebrating their safety. The programme ended with emergency exercises at the Tema and Takoradi depots. The scenarios were a truck on fire under the rack due to static spark. Reponses time for evacuation and allied emergency teams were very good.
